TED TALKS で面白いプレゼンがあったので、ご紹介。

Mummies are a great source of information except that they are really geographically limited and limited in times as well.であれば、どうやって情報を得るか?
そこで出てきたのが、『dental plaque』
It’s a type of fossilized dental plaque that is called officially dental calculus.
つまり歯石ですね。その中から普段は呼吸器系に生息する細菌や、腸内に生息する細菌も見つかったとのこと。
今までの骨格などからはわからないわからない臓器系が分析できる可能性があり、数千年前の感染や免疫などの情報を得られるようになるとのこと。わくわくする話です。
そして、このプレゼンの〆の言葉には、歯医者としては苦笑してしまいました。

うーん、なるほど。未来のためには、ってことですね。・・・・・・未来の研究の礎になるか?
